neilb Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 (edited) Sorry if this has been asked before... I have an 51 plate Seat Alhambra TDI SE. Will this see a tax hike in the coming years as threatened by this Govt? Oops, wrong section I think. Edited July 10, 2008 by neilb Quote
ACD1055 Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 the new tax applies to cars registered after March 31st 2001 (I think) Quote
jkspoff Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 (edited) The 1.9Tdi VW engine used in the Sharan/Alhambra/Galaxy has fairly low emissions that are below the new tax charges, so fortunately the road tax will stay relatively the same. The only ones it will effect are the 2.3 litre petrol and V6 variants. Emissions & TaxIf you car was registered on or after March 1st 2001 then it will fall under the new Vehicle Excise Duty (or Road Tax to you and me) rules. If your car was registered before March 1st 2001 then you will still be paying the usual fees, which are Edited July 10, 2008 by jkspoff Quote

davewill Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Jkspoff The figures you gave are for manual cars My 2006 1.9TDI Zetec Galaxy is an Automatic, and that puts it into the 200 emission bracket, and thus up to the next band (Band F) And thats my gripe - as having driven a manual for two years and now driving an auto, my fuel consumption is about 10% better in an auto, so therefore why are my emmisions higher??? :) This is the same bracket as some Range Rover models and i am driving a 1.9Turbo Diesel engine - Barstewards Quote
davewill Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 This is a link to show CO2 on the Galaxy rangeJust put your own model in to the "search engine page"http://www.smmtco2.co.uk/co2search2.asp Quote

I would have thought nearer 40mpg would be more accurate. CO2 emmisions are still much lower than any of the petrol variants though. Quote
